Human Mobility Project For Afghan Women

Human Mobility Project For Afghan Women

The Peacebuilding Project along with People Beyond Borders was recently awarded the prestigious UNDP and Citibank partnered grant for leading Asia’s greatest young movement for empowerment, equality and social inclusion with our Human Mobility project for Afghan refugee women.
Our human mobility project revolved around  building capacity and self-reliance of Afghan female refugees (ages 13+ ) in the production of environmentally friendly sanitary pads and products.  This endeavor generates income, livelihood, and greater access to sustainable menstrual health support. We are now working with 30 refugee women, teaching them how to make sanitary napkins out of recycled fabric. We have organized skill-based workshops through Kamakhya, our partner organization complemented by consulting doctors and WASH Experts.  Our products, the reusable sanitary napkin, have proven benefits both for the environment and for women’s safety.

Our team also mobilized the women in aspects of personal and professional growth by conducting workshops on business management skills and confidence building.
